My Background

  • 25+ years dedicated experience as consultant, facilitator, coach, educator and author 
  • Teaching 18 years on UBC's Sauder School of Business faculty for Meeting the Leadership Challenge, 6-day residential Executive Education program.  Served on faculty for Sauder's Executive MBA for Health Care professionals.  Design the leadership component to help participants strengthen their inner leader core and take more appropriate action through reflection, integration of personal values, and clear intention.  Coaching during and after the program. 
  •  Currently designing and facilitating an innovative leadership development initiative which integrates three levels of learning over  6 months:  personal development, sustained relationships, and the whole system perspective.  The aim is to develop a culture in which everyone can be a leaderful person:  resilient, engaged, creative, connected and thriving.  Focused practices are embedded in day to day work interactions.  New capacities grow with the support of a Peer Learning Team.   Summaries of collective learning are contributed to the whole system.  Project has spanned 4 years with a variety of activities to sustain the learning momentum after the cohort finishes the training stage.
  • Design, coordinate and facilitate numerous Retirement Planning workshops for in-house and industry.
  • Offer retirement transition coaching to individuals and couples using a research-based whole life planning model.
  • Designed and implemented a 5-year project with a North American re-forestation organization to develop leadership and innovation based on cross-boundary team projects.  The project included on-site training and 'at a distance' coaching for the   geographically dispersed teams to practice their new skills, including how to incorporate whole systems and work culture awareness.   In addition to growing leaders, this program resulted in better connections among people from diverse parts and different levels of the organization. 
  • Served as one-on-one leadership coach for UBC's Sauder School of Business full time MBA students through two years.      
  • Designed and facilitated numerous programs related to leadership effectiveness, career development systems, team relationships, communications. workplace wellness and life balance for the business community through UBC’s Sauder Executive Education and Continuing Studies
  •  Initiated a process for inter-departmental collaboration and management team development in a major municipality over five years' consulting support.
  • Designed and implemented career development systems for client organizations in projects that ranged from 1 to 4 years and required managing teams ‘at a distance’ as well as training in-house trainers - in collaboration with Career Systems Int'l.
  • Co-facilitated 120 world leaders invited to participate in the Vancouver Dialogues with His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the launch of the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education.
  • Co-facilitated the Trustworthiness, Justice and Forgiveness Track for the Eighth International UNESCO Conference on Unity and Diversity.
  • Assisted client companies to create, integrate and sustain a learning culture for healthy leadership, career success, and brilliant teams.
  • Brought interactive teaching into classrooms of 30 to 300 students at UBC’s Sauder School of Business for over 15 years.  Nominations for Teaching Excellence award. 
In the community:  A long time member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS).  Founded the Vancouver IONS community group; served on councils and on the board of directors to develop the world-wide network of 250 IONS community groups. These experiences offered invaluable opportunities to guide the growth of groups capable of deepening their learning and sustaining their strengths over time.  Served as a board member for Power of Hope Canada, dedicated to arts-based youth empowerment and leadership development.   Executive Director for the Watson Family Foundation.
